As we step into Vision 2040, we are evolving our organisational identity.
Zizi Afrique Foundation becomes
Mizizi Elimu Afrika (Mizizi).
This change reflects who we have become, what we stand for and the future we are working towards.
Zizi Afrique Foundation carried us through our formative years. It holds our history, our learning, and the foundations of our work. But as our partnerships, reach and influence have grown across Africa, the need for a name that speaks clearly, confidently and authentically in our own African voice became evident.
Mizizi Elimu Afrika tells our story more directly and more proudly.
What the name means
Mizizi Elimu Afrika is rooted in African language, values and meaning.
Mizizi means roots or foundations. It reflects our core belief that strong foundations in learning are essential for children, communities and societies to flourish. It also speaks to the three roots at the heart of our work: literacy, numeracy, and life skills and values — the capabilities every child needs to learn, relate and thrive.
Elimu Afrika speaks to education and learning across the continent. It affirms our African identity and our continental ambition — to support systems change that reaches every learner.
Our short name, Mizizi, evokes growth, blossoming and thriving; the journey from strong roots to lasting impact.

What changes — and what stays the same
A phased transition is underway, encompassing our brand strategy, visual identity, digital platforms and communications. This includes updates to our logo, website, content and public-facing materials.
Throughout this process, one intention guides us: for Mizizi Elimu Afrika to feel African, human and hopeful while remaining credible, professional and trusted by governments, partners, funders and communities.
