When research is shared, power is distributed, and learning is collective, more relevant and lasting change is possible both in and through education.
As education systems navigate disruption, uncertainty, and shifting power dynamics, there is growing recognition that lasting change cannot be achieved through policy reform alone. Transforming education systems requires new ways of learning, sharing power, and connecting research with action.
On July 2, join Mizizi Elimu Afrika, EducAid Sierra Leone, and the Center for Universal Education at Brookings for the symposium bringing together educators, researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and young people to explore how collaborative research and action can drive more equitable and locally rooted education systems transformation. Through dialogue, workshops, and shared learning, participants will engage with examples from across the continent and beyond, exploring what it takes to shift power, strengthen collaboration, and transform education systems in ways that are both contextually relevant and globally connected.
This event is a part of the Global Symposium Series 2026 and builds on the collaborative work of the Knowing Doing Network (KDN). It is co-hosted and co-designed by An Giang University Vietnam, the Center for Universal Education at Brookings, EducAid Sierra Leone, Educación para Compartir, Mizizi Elimu Afrika, Society for Access to Quality Education (SAQE), and Vozes da Educação.
